things that I’m loving right now…

  • Kicking the kids outside to play so that I can get some peace and quiet.
  • This before and after.
  • Going to bed early (a bit too early).
  • Making Fall/Winter food! I’ve rediscovered my love for my CrockPot. Soups, stews, sauces, you name it, I’m makin’ it!
  • Shabby Apple dresses…so simple, so fashionable. I’m really digging this one.
  • Painting. Yes, I’m kinda painting again and it feels wonderful. I did this little ditty for my sister-in-law’s 16th birthday.

(i have a feeling that a special someone might just be getting one of these for her birthday too. shhhh, don’t tell.)

  • The lack of snow.
  • Having a clean kitchen. I’ve been trying soooo hard to keep it nice and tidy and get all of my dishes done. It feels great to work in a clean space.
  • Christmas decorations. I usually dread winter and Christmas (you know, the hustle and bustle of everything, knowing what to make for people, eating way too much and feeling like a blimp.) until I get those first few Christmas flyers in the mail, and then all of the anticipation and excitement and beauty of the season comes flooding back. I haven’t put any up yet, but I am determined to get one of these wreaths this year!
  • Having a child that is old enough to do chores around the house. Like taking out the composting 🙂

  • Afternoon tea. I think a trip to Cornelia Bean is much-needed!
  • The thought of going on a little vacation with the kids in a week (although I’m not loving the fact that James isn’t coming).
  • Reading this parenting book. I feel as though the past few months I’ve really lost focus of what I want to be instilling in my kids as a parent. I need to get back on track and set some goals…badly. The hard part is that it requires much change in me and little change in them. Oh, the joys of parenting.
  • The fact that my freezer is totally stocked with yummy meats for the winter.
  • And last but not least, the passage that our pastor read in church last Sunday from Ezekiel 34.

11 ” ‘For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I myself will search for my sheep and look after them. 12 As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness. 13 I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the countries, and I will bring them into their own land. I will pasture them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines and in all the settlements in the land. 14 I will tend them in a good pasture, and the mountain heights of Israel will be their grazing land. There they will lie down in good grazing land, and there they will feed in a rich pasture on the mountains of Israel. 15 I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down, declares the Sovereign LORD. 16 I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak, but the sleek and the strong I will destroy. I will shepherd the flock with justice.
