New post on my Everything Nice page. Enjoy!

I had such a wonderful weekend! That sounded a little enthusiastic for me, but hey, it WAS wonderful! On Saturday we went and picked up our Christmas Tree, which was very exciting for the kids since we didn’t have one last year, and then went to a fundraising auction at our church. I’d never been to a non-silent auction before and I have to say that I can’t wait for next year’s because I had a blast! James and I won three items; a fishing trip, an evening of babysitting, and a retro chair to be recovered (I’m so pumped about the last one). The evening was full of energy and so entertaining, it was nice to see everyone come out to have fun and donate money.
On Sunday I awoke to the tantalizing aromas of pork cooking in my Crock Pot (to be made into Pulled Pork), I was starving as soon as my eyes opened and I’m sure it was because I was smelling the pork while I slept. I went downstairs and put on a pot of apple cider to mull throughout the day…nothing beats homemade apple cider! After an amazing church service we came home and one of my best friends, Julia, came over to help us decorate our tree. We had Cider, eggnog, Bailey’s, Toffifay (?), and Christmas cookies to add to the christmas spirit. The kids were overjoyed to see a tree up and decorated all purdy like in our living room and now I’m officially okay with tomorrow being December 1st. Christmas can now come, although I have hardly any gifts made or bought…but we can deal with that tomorrow.
WordPress has FINALLY decided to let me back in after almost a week of shunning me! I’m overjoyed and slightly annoyed. I had so many posts that I wanted to write last week and a bunch of pictures to upload but my computer wouldn’t even load my WordPress page nevermind let me in to my account. Anywho, it’s working now and hopefully it’ll continute to work for the rest of the week 🙂 Right now I have a monstrous pile of laundry to fold and a sink full of dishes to wash…so I’ll catch all y’all later. Ciao.
So I’ve finally returned from the great wild west. The kids and I had a grand ol’ time visiting with our long-lost family but it feels good to be home. Believe it or not, I was actually getting antsy to do some cleaning and make myself useful…and get blogging again (I’ve actually missed it). I don’t have much time to write all about our trip and upload some pictures, with all the unpacking, the cleaning, and the grocery shopping that needs to get done, but I promise that I’ll get to it later today or tomorrow. I will leave you with a little something though! Do you remember waaaaaay back when I posted about the Pink Polka Dot Party? I said that Ammie and I took some decorations home for her room to spruce it up a bit. Well, I waited until Ammie was downstairs to put it all together (so it was kind-of a mini ‘While You Were Out’…) so when she came up to see it she was beyond excited. I wish I had video taped her reaction; think toddler jumping up and down saying, “Wook Mommy, Wook!” Very cute. So here’s the room…
I actually had that big circle purple pillow and polka dot blanket on her bed before I added my sister’s things…it was meant to be!
So the kids and I are heading out to Calgary today to spend some time with two Grandpa’s, one Grandma, two Great-Grandma’s, one Great-Grandpa, a couple aunt’s and a random assortment of other lovable people. The kids are BEYOND excited to being going on an airplane…which reminds me, I have to go! Hopefully I can do some posts while I’m there, but we’ll have to see. There’s Ikea and Pottery Barn and H&M and Banff….oh boy!
Although I had nothing to do with the success of this pink party I have a duty to mankind to share the cuteness with the world. Is there anything more cheerful than having pink polka dot pillows strewn about the house, pink polka dot streamers on the walls, pink polka dot cakes on the table, and a whole buffet of pink polka dot food!??! Top that all off with a pink polka dot niece! Love it. My sister went all out and I think that everyone was impressed with how many ways she was able to incorporate the theme. What a crafty sister I have!
Ammie and I took a few of the polka dots home to decorate her room with (I’ll post pics soon) much to the dismay of James, who apparently isn’t a lover of pink polka dots. Bah, men.
Thanks for having such a fun birthday party Madeleine! And just incase you’re wondering, yes, those are watermelon polka dots!
